Helen Bennett

Chief Executive Officer

From a substantial background in human resources, change management  and organisational development within the private sector, in 2010 Helen transitioned her career in to local government, managing business improvement and transformation activities.  Her work involved engaging with third sector partners in developing new integrated approaches and different models for delivering public services. Helen brings a wealth of experience to the role having successfully managing her own business consultancy practice and her current work as a Trustee for a prominent sight loss charity in Hampshire.  Experienced in conflict resolution Helen is passionate about the life changing benefits that SF&MS services provide to families and the local community.

 

Liz Brown

Professional Practice Consultant

LAA Accredited to provide MIAMs and Family Mediation post January 2016

From a background in social work and people centred support, Liz trained as a mediator with National Family Mediation in 2002. She initially worked as a mediator for SFMS, before becoming the Charity’s Professional Practice Consultant in 2015.

Contact Centre Manager

Before gaining her degree, Pat worked with children in hospital, schools and youth clubs. She taught in Primary schools specialising in SENs and families to support children with behavioural problems and ESL. She is a trained Mentor and has worked with children and young people including those in a prison environment. She joined Surrey Family & Mediation Service when the Child Contact Centre opened in 2009.

Office Manager

My previous roles have included working as administrator and administration manager in colleges and schools supporting lecturers and management. I joined SF&MS as the SPIP administrator in 2011 and in 2013 was promoted to Administration Manager where I am now responsible for the child counselling and SPIP teams and support to the trustees. I also share the administration for mediation with the administrator for mediation.

I trained as mediator with National Family Mediation and completed my training in 2003. In my practice as a full time mediator, I mediated around 100 cases each year in an inner-city service until qualifying as a Professional Practice Consultant in 2009. I joined the Surrey team in 2010. I have a background in education, including as a home educator, counselling and in voluntary sector management.

Sheila Parkes

Qualified to offer Direct Consultation with Children of parents in mediation.
Sheila Parkes has a background in Law qualifying initially in Scotland in 1981 and then in England in 1986 and continues to practice as a Family lawyer in Hampshire. She trained as a mediator in 1996 with Hampshire Family Mediation and joined Surrey Family Mediation in around 1998. She is also Deputy Professional Practice Consultant for the Service. She particularly enjoys the challenge of helping clients with the financial aspects of relationship breakdown, but always endeavours to approach cases with empathy and understanding.

Irene Jackson has a background in social work, and worked as a qualified Social Worker with children and families before retraining and qualifying as a family mediator in 2006. Irene has been working as a full time mediator since she qualified and she joined Surrey Family Mediation Service in 2008.   Irene has a wealth of experience in child only mediation, property and financial mediation and all issues mediation. Irene is skilled in helping separating couples negotiate financial issues. Irene is experienced in direct consultation with children and has a particular interest in supporting separated parents in maintaining a relationship with their children post separation.In addition to her mediation work Irene delivers parenting courses for separated couples.
Irene currently works across 2 National Family Mediation services and mediates around 70 cases a year in Woking, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Irene is also a mental health act manager for the NHS, and has worked in this capacity since 2003 and has a professional knowledge of clients who may present in mediation with mental health issues.

Jayne Swanston worked as an accountant and senior business analyst (for an investment bank) before making a career change.   Prior to completing her mediation training in July 2005 she also qualified as a psychodynamic counsellor. She brings both her accountancy and counselling skills into the mediation setting. Jayne is an experienced mediator working with all aspects of family mediation including Direct Consultation with Children.  Jayne worked with Hants FMS, NFM Direct and works from various outposts for Family Mediation in Sussex along with SFMS.

Qualified to offer Direct Consultation with Children of parents in mediation

Jenny has worked as a Family Mediator since the mid 1990s. In addition to a spell as a NFM trainer Jenny has provided professional practice consultancy to mediation services and independent practitioners in the South East.

Currently Jenny mediates in services in Surrey and Sussex. She is accredited by The Law Society.

Maggie Stonadge

Family Mediator

Qualified to offer Direct Consultation with Children of parents in mediation

After many years working in the Manufacturing and Financial Services Sector, Maggie re-trained to be a mediator. She has been working full time as a mediator since 2007. She is experienced in all types of mediation including property, finances and children issues.  She believes that mediation has a vital part to play to help couples and families who have separated, to resolve any issues they have, in a calm, professional and impartial environment. She is married with two children.

Qualified to offer Direct Consultation with Children of parents in mediation.

Will trained as a solicitor with Penningtons Manches LLP and has worked in dispute resolution since 2004. He took further training as a family mediator with National Family Mediation (NFM) in 2011 and has since obtained full Family Mediation Council Accreditation status.  He is MIAMS qualified, experienced in working on private and publicly funded cases and delivers the Separated Parents Information Programme as well as mediating at court. Will is a full member of NFM and ADR Group and mediates in Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire
